On 4 October 2018, the first meeting of the coalition titled \u201cCommunity Development and\u00a0Participatory Governance Union\u201d (\u201cHamaZarK\u201d) took place. During the meeting, the rules\u00a0and regulations of the newly founded coalition were approved, the governing board was\u00a0elected and new members were added to it. <\/span><\/p>\n

The \u201cHamaZarK\u201d coalition is implementing the\u00a0\u201cParticipatory Monitoring for the Creation of Smart Communities in Armenia\u201d project. It is\u00a0implemented in the scope of a grant allocated by the \u201cCommitment to Constructive\u00a0Dialogue\u201d project (CCD) funded by the European Union.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is mentioned that over the past three years 12\u201015% of the budget means of the\u00a0communities of the Shirak, Lori, and Tavush marz centres have been directed at waste\u00a0collection, utility services and environmental protection and yet no substantial changes are\u00a0noticed. People are constantly dissatisfied with the services rendered and the relevant bodies<\/span>
\ndo not apply alternative solutions.<\/span><\/p>\n

The goal of the \u201cParticipatory Monitoring for the Creation of Smart Communities in\u00a0Armenia\u201d project is to contribute to raising the quality of the services rendered by local\u00a0government in the enlarged communities selected in these marzes through improving,\u00a0monitoring and advocating for the public policy in the sector.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDue to the coalition, the efforts of a group of organisations have been joined for the benefit\u00a0of the development of these fields. This is just the beginning of our systemic and consistent\u00a0work,\u201d said Gharib Harutyunyan, the President of the project lead \u201cCompass\u201d NGO.<\/span><\/p>\n

Karen Zadoyan, the Project Manager of the \u201cCommitment to Constructive Dialogue\u201d project\u00a0and the President of the Armenian Lawyers\u2019 Association, delivered a welcome speech at the\u00a0event. He also presented the CCD goals and the large-scale work already carried out.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking about the newly founded coalition and its work, he advised that the society was\u00a0involved to the extent possible and that the ties with it were strengthened.<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, memoranda on becoming members of the \u201cHamaZarK\u201d coalition have been signed\u00a0with 21 non-governmental organisations. Project Manager Haykaram Drmeyan noted that\u00a0the number of the membership applications reached several dozens. However, the\u00a0applications were satisfied, taking into account a number of criteria, such as sectoral\u00a0<\/span>experience, reputation, capacities.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
