On\u00a016 October 2025<\/strong>, a workshop titled\u00a0\u201cCountering Disinformation: Public\u2013Private Dialogue Format\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0was held.<\/p>\n

The event was organized with the support of the\u00a0Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania<\/strong>\u00a0and within the framework of the program\u00a0\u201cArmenia\u2019s Disinformation Resilience Academy: Strengthening Strategic Defense Capacities through the Transfer of Lithuania\u2019s Experience\u201d<\/strong>, implemented by the\u00a0Armenian Lawyers\u2019 Association (ALA)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The opening remarks were delivered by\u00a0Marat Atovmyan<\/strong>, Vice President of the Armenian Lawyers\u2019 Association, who emphasized the international significance of the initiative and expressed gratitude to the Embassy of Lithuania and the Lithuanian people for their support. According to him, the risks associated with the spread of disinformation have become a global challenge, the consequences of which are also felt in Armenia.<\/p>\n

\u201cModern societies face manifestations of fake news, disinformation, and hate speech almost every day. Unfortunately, this issue also exists in our country. Addressing it requires a combination of knowledge, skills, and cooperation,\u201d said Marat Atovmyan.<\/p>\n

He further noted that, within the program, the\u00a0Disinformation Resilience Academy<\/strong>\u00a0was organized, in which approximately 20 participants were selected from a large pool of applicants representing various communities from Yerevan and other regions. During the Academy, participants studied the characteristics of disinformation dissemination, personal data protection, the impact of artificial intelligence, and other related topics.<\/p>\n

Lithuanian Experience as a Model for Cooperation<\/strong><\/p>\n

Andrius Pulokas<\/strong>, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Armenia, in his welcoming remarks, emphasized the value of cooperation between Armenia and Lithuania:<\/p>\n

\u201cLithuania and Armenia are democratic countries, and therefore disinformation represents a shared challenge. The key word is resilience\u2014both at the societal and governmental levels,\u201d the Ambassador stated.<\/p>\n

He added that this initiative is not merely a one-off program step but a continuation of long-term cooperation. Lithuania\u2019s experience has shown that countering disinformation requires joint efforts, rapid response, and continuous development of media literacy.<\/p>\n

Presentation of the \u201cPractical Handbook on Countering Disinformation\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the workshop, program experts\u00a0Syuzanna Soghomonyan<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Mariam Zadoyan<\/strong>\u00a0presented the newly developed\u00a0\u201cPractical Handbook on Countering Disinformation\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, which was developed with the participation of national and international experts. The Handbook is intended as a practical guide for representatives of state authorities, civil society organizations, media institutions, and the private sector for the prevention, detection, and response to disinformation.<\/p>\n

Suzanna Soghomonyan highlighted that the Handbook is designed to strengthen the capacities of different groups within society and raise awareness:<\/p>\n

\u201cDisinformation is not only a technological or media problem. It is also a matter of public thinking and trust. Without a media-literate society, no technology can fully protect us from the risks of disinformation,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n

The expert outlined three main types of information disruption:<\/p>\n
