Commitment to Constructive Dialogue

Training on Re-organisation of the Union of Legal Entities (ULE) as a Non-Governmental Organisation

Legislative amendments have recently been made in the legal regulation regarding the activities of non-governmental organisations, namely, the adoption of the new law on “Non-Governmental Organisations”, which was adopted in February 2017 (the law is available at https://www.arlis.am/documentview.aspx?docid=110802). Notably, pursuant to the law, the Unions of Legal Entities (ULE) are obliged to re-register as non-governmental organisations. In addition, on 16 January 2018, the National Assembly of the RA adopted the amendment in the second reading as well. According to the amendments in case where the Unions of Legal Entities fail to reorganise as non-governmental organisations, they shall be subject to liquidation.

For this reason, the Armenian Lawyers’ Association organises a training course on the latest legal amendments for the Unions of Legal Entities.

After completing the training, ULEs will have the opportunity to receive free legal advice on the new law, directly from the trainer, as well as receive support aimed at harmonization of their legal documents with the existing law.

The training course is organised within the framework of the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” action is implemented with the financial support of the European Union by a Consortium of civil society organisations, which are “Armenian Lawyers’ Association”, Agora Central Europe o.p.s (an NGO from the Czech Republic), Armenian Center for Democratic Education-CIVITAS, “International Center for Human Development” Public Organisation, SME Cooperation Association and Union of Communities of Armenia.

The overall objective of the project is to enhance the influence of CSOs on the public policy process, and the specific objectives are to strengthen the ability of CSOs to build coalitions and focus on constructive and strategic policy engagement with local and central government partners. The project has a sub-granting component, under which grants will be provided to CSOs and CSO coalitions. The project has 9 target areas, including justice, education and business.

The training will take place on 25 January, 2018 at 12:00 in Yerevan City (address: 7 nalbandyan Str., Suite 2, Yerevan).
