On 20 July, the First Local Government-CSO forum entitled “New Opportunities for CSO and LSG Cooperation, CSOs’ Participation in Local Self-Governance in the Context of Local Self-Governance Reforms (Constitutional, Territorial, Legislative) in the RA” was organised in Jermuk.
The Forum was organised by the Union of Communities of Armenia in the scope of the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” project funded by the European Union and implemented by a Consortium of civil society organisations, which are “Armenian Lawyers’ Association”, Agora Central Europe o.p.s (an NGO from the Czech Republic), “Armenian Center for Democratic Education-CIVITAS” NGO, “International Center for Human Development” Public Organisation, “SME Cooperation Association” NGO and Union of Communities of Armenia.
The forum aims to create a dialogue between local self-government bodies and civil society organisations. Vayots Dzor Deputy Governor Razmik Tonoyan, representatives of LSG bodies of Vayots Dzor and Syunik Marzes, including community council members and community employees, as well as Kapan CSO incubator’s coordinator took part in the Forum.
The discussions focused primarily on the role that CSOs could undertake in interrelations with local governments through new legislative changes.
