On 19 July, the “Civil Society Institute” non-governmental organisation, together with its partners “Astghatsolq” NGO, “Against the Violation of Law” NGO, and the “Family and Community” NGO, organised a discussion titled “The Role of the Public Sector in the Establishment of Probation.”
Arsen Navasardyan, the Head of the State Probation Service, gave a speech at the discussion, too. He spoke about the establishment of the institution of probation and the existing gaps, encouraged proactive cooperation. Mr. Navasardyan urged the organisers to collect the ideas shared during the discussions and send them as recommendations to the relevant state agencies.
Summing up the discussions, the Director of the “Civil Society Institute” NGO spoke about the solutions. In particular, he said: “From the efficiency point of view of probation, integration of community-based social services, giving the probation beneficiary a chance to do socially useful work is more expedient, as well as equipping the probation service with the necessary toolset, particularly to clarify the early release process.”
