Commitment to Constructive Dialogue

Personal Advice Sessions with CSOs from the Syunik and Vayots Dzor Marzes

On 19-20 September 2018, Karen Zadoyan, the President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, and Khachik Gevorgyan, the Executive Director of the Armenian Centre for Democratic Education (CIVITAS) gave personal advice on public policy monitoring and improvement plans to CSOs working in Vayk, Sisian, Goris, and Kapan in the scope of the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” project funded by the European Union.

Karen Zadoyan and Khachik Gevorgyan presented options aimed at improving the work of local government and local economy. The ideas and recommendations of CSOs, their previous experience were discussed.

CSO representatives were given information on concise presentation of the results of the sub-grant projects to be allocated in the scope of the project through competition.

The participants told about the peculiarities of their communities, the directions to be developed and the resources necessary. Among the options discussed were those related to constructive dialogue with community heads and city councils, as well as project implementation on the issues raised.

Another question was raised in the communities on the poor and at times inefficient work of city councils.

In the participants’ words, such meetings are very efficient as they contribute to making NGOs’ unclear projects more precise and developing them in the right direction.

The “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” project is implemented with the financial support of the European Union by a consortium of civil society organizations, which are the “Armenian Lawyers’ Association” NGO, Agora Central Europe o.p.s (an NGO from the Czech Republic), the “Armenian Center for Democratic Education-CIVITAS” NGO, the “International Center for Human Development” Public Organization, the “SME Cooperation Association” NGO and the Union of Communities of Armenia.
