Today, on 19 April, the meeting of the working group of small and medium-sized enterprises was held within the framework of the EU-funded “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” project.
Mr. Hakob Avagyan, Vice-President of the “SME Cooperation Association” presented the program and mentioned that several organisations have compiled and developed SME analysis, which was submitted to the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments in autumn last year.
“We know that the 2019-21 Strategy for SME Development is in process and we asked to present in what state it is currently,” he said.
Mr. Avag Avanesyan, RA Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments, noted that SME strategy is currently in the process of active discussion and the position of civil society and the opinions of private partners about the priorities, events and other measures is very important.
“The analysis has already had its impact on the strategy. Thus, we were deciding which main directions of SME development in Armenia will the state support the state, and what are the SME priorities,” the Deputy Minister said.
Mr. Koryun Gevorgyan, Head of SME Development Department at the RA Ministry of Economic Development and Investments, presented the structure of the Draft 2019-21 SME Development Strategy.
He spoke about the need for SME strategy, the timeline and process of its development, presented its SME development vision and mission, strategy targets and objectives, as well as how to implement it.
Notably, the research “SME Sector Analysis in Armenia – 2018” has been implemented within the framework of the project. Mr. Grigor Avetisyan, the representative of Gyumri Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Gagik Vardanyan, the Secretary of The Armenian Business Coalition and Mr. David Aghajanyan, EBRD Business Support Officer presented it.
