Non-governmental organizations may involve volunteers in their work and conclude agreements with them by bringing those legal relations to legal field. The new Law on Non-Governmental Organizations” already provides such an opportunity. Lawyer Marat Atovmyan, said this at the training for NGO representatives today.
At the same time, he noted that volunteers can only be involved in activities that are not of a entrepreneurial nature. By the way, under the new law, NGOs also have the right to engage in entrepreneurial activity. In this case, it is important to remember that income generated from entrepreneurial activity should be spent exclusively for statutory purposes of the NGO.
Despite these positive changes, NGOs are cautious about using this advantage. The problem is that it is not yet clear what income will be taxed. For example, shall the grants of NGO, which undertook entrepreneurial activities, also be taxed or not. There is no clear answer to these questions from the SRC yet.
It should be noted that trainings and free legal consultations are held in Yerevan, Shirak, Syunik, Lori and Gegharkunik regions are conducted in the scope of the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project, which is implemented with the financial support of the European Union by the “Armenian Lawyers’ Association” NGO in cooperation with its partners; Agora Central Europe o.p.s (an NGO from the Czech Republic), Armenian Center for Democratic Education-CIVITAS, “International Center for Human Development” Public Organization, SME Cooperation Association and Union of Communities of Armenia.
