The educational certification capacity building program of the 5th phase for the representatives of civil society organizations (CSO) is continued at the American University of Armenia. 19 CSO representatives of 15 CSOs from 6 marzes of Armenia as well as from Yerevan participate at this stage.
Mr. Gevorg Grigoryan, representative of the Armenian Association of Young Doctors NGO, told in conversation with us that organizing such a training is a good idea because being interactive, it allows sharing experiences with both invited experts and lecturers and with other participants.
“The only disadvantage is that the duration of the course is only 5 days, and it would be better to teach such skills for a longer time and more applicable, because the theory is one thing and application of this theory is something else. Although experts unanimously state that we can apply to them outside the classes, ask questions and get advice,” Gevorg Grigoryan said.
According to the participant, during the trainings, he also receives answers to the questions as to why such issues arise during the activities of their organization, or how to handle those issues.
Ms Arevhat Petrosyan from “Spitak Helsinki Group” Human Rights NGO said that during the discussions, they find gaps in their activities.
“For a moment, you look back at your work and think about how you can benefit from it, so that your organization carries out its activities better and the expectations that I have from this training are implemented just in this way.”
The training course is organized within the framework of The “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” project implemented with the financial support of the European Union by a Consortium of civil society organizations, which are the Armenian Lawyers’ Association (lead organization), Agora Central Europe (NGO based in the Czech Republic), the Armenian Centre for Democratic Education-CIVITAS, the International Centre for Human Development, the SME Cooperation Association and the Union of Communities of Armenia.
