In the two communities of Shirak, Lori and Tavush marzes, EU funded sub-grant project “Participatory Monitoring for the Creation of Intelligent Communities in Armenia” will be implemented.
“Compass” Research, Training and Consultancy Center NGO is implementing the project in cooperation with its partners; “NGO Center”, “Youth Cooperation Center of Dilijan” NGO and “Information Systems Development and Training Center” NGO, in the scope of the sub-grant provided in the framework of the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project, which is implemented by a Consortium led by the Armenian lawyers’ Association NGO.
22 million 516 thousand drams have been allocated for the project implementation, and the total budget is 24 million 986 thousand drams.
“We all know that there are many shortcomings and frustrations in the process of enlargement of communities. On the assumption of the fact that the process has already taken place and is going on, in the created situation we have to find the best solutions for communities so that they are not affected or better to say shall be able to come out of the situation with advantage,” Gharib Harutyunyan, President of “Compass” Research, Training and Consultancy Center NGO said.
Enlarged communities Ashotsk and Akhuryan in Shirak marz, Tumanyan and Stepanavan in Lori marz, and Dilijan and Noyemberyan in Tavush marz are included in the program. Monitored of services provided by the LSGs will be conducted in these communities, package of proposals on improving public policy will be developed. In addition activities aimed at raising public awareness in the public administration area to promote the public administration.
According to Haykaram Dremyan, the “Participatory Monitoring for the Establishment of Smart Communities in Armenia” Project Manager, the first aim is to understand the population’s attitude and opinion. “The assessment of the provision of community-based services. Especially in areas of lighting, garbage disposal and intra-community roads,” he said.
