On July 19th, 2018 the founding meeting of the “Support to Probation” national network took place in the scope of the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” project funded by the European Union. 14 representatives from 8 civil society organisations participated in the event.
Artak Kirakosyan, the President of the “Civil Society Institute” NGO, mentioned that the correspondence for the meeting was open so that more people were aware and could participate if they wished. He added that in spite of that the number of participants is small which speaks about the fact that many still don’t understand or appreciate the role of probation and that there is, in fact, a need for serious awareness raising.
Artak Kirakosyan presented the preliminary versions of the rules and regulations, as well as the ethics rules of the “Support to Probation” national network. The role of the ethics commission was emphasised, too.
It was also decided that the “Civil Society Institute” NGO would reserve the rights of the secretariat of the network for a year and that the organisation’s Director Artak Kirakosyan would respectively be appointed as the President of the Governing Board.
