The “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” action is implemented with the financial support of the European Union by a Consortium of civil society organizations, which are “Armenian Lawyers’ Association”, Agora Central Europe o.p.s (an NGO from the Czech Republic), Armenian Center for Democratic Education-CIVITAS, “International Center for Human Development” Public Organization, SME Cooperation Association and Union of Communities of Armenia.
The overall objective of the Action is to enhance the influence of Civil Society Organizations (CSO) on the public policy process, as well as strengthen Armenian CSOs’ capacity to establish sectoral coalitions, and to develop cooperation with central and local authorities. The project has a sub-granting component, under which grants will be provided to CSOs and CSOs organizations. The project has 9 target areas, including justice, education and business.
Given the recent legislative changes in the legal regulation of NGO activities, specifically adoption of the new Law of the Republic of Armenia on Public Organizations (NGO Law) which is available at https://www.arlis.am/documentview.aspx?docid=110802, and there is a need to harmonize the NGO statutes with the new legislative requirements, the Armenian Lawyers’ Association launches the following types of support to NGOs:
1. Providing free legal advice to NGOs on the new NGO Law in Yerevan and in Gegharkunik, Shirak, Lori and Syunik marzes.
2. Harmonization of CSOs’ statutes and other legal documents with current legislation and in Yerevan and above-mentioned 4 marzes.
3. In addition, within the framework of events dedicated to Europe Day, training courses on legislative changes in the NGO sector will be organized in compliance with the following schedule:
o Gyumri– 10 May,
o Yerevan – 12 May,
o Gavar – 17 May,
o Vanadzor – 24 May,
o Kapan – 31 May.
Considering the limited number of places, from 15 to 20 organizations that would register first, will have opportunity to participate in the mentioned training courses. Notably, the lectures also include the tax aspects of doing business. Mr. Karen Zadoyan, President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association will conduct the trainings.
