On 26 September 2018, a discussion on the opportunities, achievements, and problems of entrepreneurial education and entrepreneurship in the state and non-state vocational training institutes of the Shirak Marz took place in the scope of the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” funded by the European Union.
The event was organised by the “Armenian Center for Democratic Education-CIVITAS” NGO, a project consortium member. 42 people participated in the meeting, including 8 representatives from 7 CSO participants of the project Gyumri CSO incubator.
Khachik Gevorgyan, the Project Education and Related Sectors Coordinator and the Executive Director of CIVITAS, presented methods of making an idea attractive, in order to increase the interest in vocational state and non-state institutes and increase the number of their students.
The representative of a vocational institute told about their interesting idea to open a cooking school. However, they had many issues during the very implementation period. Khachik Gevorgyan advised to just start as that would lead to success. He also expressed his readiness to participate in that process and support it.
Khachik Gevorgyan also presented online training platforms for receiving education and information, getting familiar with foreign markets and becoming their actors.
Mariam Janoyan, the President of the “Kantegh Luso” Educational and Cultural, Social NGO, said that the knowledge gained as a result of discussions would greatly help them to realise interesting ideas with colleges: “What has been presented, especially about the opportunities to do entrepreneurship in the sector of education, is very up-to-date and important. The trainings held due to NGOs give opportunities for practice and for students to be competitive in the job market.”
Hasmik Petrosyan, the President of the “Contact Plus” Human Rights NGO, also attached importance to the knowledge gained during the discussion. She also mentioned about receiving cooperation proposals which they would realise in the future.
