In the scope of the “CSOs for Sustainable and Transparent Energy Development (EU4STED)” project implemented within the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” project funded by the European Union, on 17 December 2018 an educational and capacity building training entitled “Oversight Tools of Community Activities in the Sector of Sustainable Energy: Methodical Guide” was held for female experts in Artik City Hall.
During the training, the main obstacles of investments in the energy sector, sustainable energy development projects of communities, the importance of women’s participation in those processes, as well as the events foreseen within the “CSOs for Sustainable and Transparent Energy Development (EU4STED)” project, aimed at supporting the solution of the mentioned problems, were presented. The following was also presented: the necessity of collecting baseline information for each sector, calculated methodology, the importance of green procurement and CSOs’ mission to monitor and reveal emerging issues.
Astghine Pasoyan, the Director of the Foundation to Save Energy, noted that the oversight and monitoring role of the society is extremely important in the sustainable energy sector and that CSOs and independent experts need professional knowledge in order to have an informed civilian role in this sector. This workshop is dedicated to the formation of these very strengths.
Around 20 experts from Artik and Aparan, the project target communities, participated in the training.
The Mayor of Artik was also present. He attached importance to awareness events and CSOs’ role in the area of public policy development in the fields of sustainable energy and climate change.
