On 30 January, the presentation of the “New Opportunities for People Deprived of Most Part of their Lands as a Result of Mining” project took place at the Culture House in Aygehovit community in Tavush Marz. This project is being implemented by the “Ijevan Youth Union” NGO within the framework of the sub-grant provided in the scope of the EU funded “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project.
The main objective of the project is to contribute to the development of border villages of villages of Aygehovit and Vazashen in Ijevan region of Tavush marz.
Heads of Aygehovit and Vazashen Communities, Directors of the Culture House and the school of Aygehovit community and residents of both communities attended the opening ceremony.
Ararat Gevorgyan, “New Opportunities for People Deprived of Most Part of their Lands as a Result of Mining” Project Manager presented the project and the forthcoming actions. The Project Manager also talked about presenting the package of proposals to the government, which shall include the proposals on draft decisions for providing compensation to the land owners of the mined areas at the border zone developed by the experts. This is aimed at restoring justice to the population of this area.
Levon Grigoryan, Head of Aygehovit community delivered a welcoming speech and expressed his willingness to assist to the implementation of the project.
Lorik Badiryan, Head of Vazashen community, also welcomed the implementation of the project, highlighting the idea of establishing a festival of agricultural products, which, in its turn, will contribute to the development of rural tourism.
Other participants of the meeting also expressed their positive attitude and mentioned that they would contribute to the implementation of the project as well.
The participants were active, participated in discussions and were interested in the topic.
