On 30 January, at 12:30, the presentation of the “Review and Implementation of Social Policies at Local Level” project took place in Tavush Marz Administration building.
The project is implemented by the “Young Tavush” Non-Governmental Organisation within the framework of the sub-grant provided in the scope of the EU funded “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” project, implemented by the Consortium led by the Armenian Lawyers’ Association.
The main objective of the project is to promote to the development of the constructive dialogue between the policy makers at the local government level and the regional CSOs involved in the solution of problems in the social sector and to support to raising the CSOs’ impact on the implementation of right for social protection of the population as well as raise the quality and effectiveness of services, and abiding the integrity norms by the employees of the sector.
Project Manager Manush Maralchyan presented the project objectives and the forthcoming activities. The project manager also spoke of the fact that overwhelming majority of the population in Tavush marz has a poor understanding of social work and added that the population’s understanding of social services is merely the fact of providing benefits and other payments to families that need of social support.
The heads of Dilijan and Noyemberyan communities also spoke about the problems and expressed their willingness to support to the implementation of the project. The participants of the meeting also expressed their positive attitude and mentioned that they would contribute to the implementation of the project as well.
Heads of enlarged communities of the marz, representatives of CSOs, Staff of the Territorial Department of Social Security Service of the Marz were present at the meeting. 11 of the above mentioned representatives were female, and 7 were male.
The participants were active, participated in discussions and were interested in the topic.
