On 11 March, the “Support for Probation” National Network which has been created in the scope of EU funded “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” project, in cooperation with the International Center for Human Development, organized a round-table discussion in Chatham House format (without the right to reference), on the topic ” Development of the System of State Probation Service and Current Challenges”.
The Head and the employees of the State Probation Service at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, as well as NA deputies, their assistants and representatives, as well as representatives from the member NGOs of the Network attended the discussion.
The speakers at the roundtable were Mr. Arsen Navasardyan the Head of the State Probation Service, Ms Gohar Simonyan, Head of Department for Prevention of Ill-treatment and Torture of the Ombudsman’s Office, Mr. Armen Galstyan, Executive Director of the International Center for Human Development, and Mr. Artak Kirakosyan, Director of the Civil Society Institute NGO, who is also the Chairman of the Governing Board of the “Support for Probation” National Network.
Summarizing the discussion the parties mentioned that it is necessary to continue the cooperation for the development of probation.
The event was organized within the framework of the “Step Towards Just Armenia” project is implemented by the “Civil Society Institute” NGO with its partners “Astghatsolk” NGO, “Foundation Against the Violation of Law” NGO, and “Family and Community” NGO, within the framework of the Sub-Grant provided in the scope of the EU funded “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue Project” implemented by a Consortium of NGOs led by the Armenian Lawyers’ Association.
