On 27 February 2019, the members of the “Support to Probation” National Network (Network) had a meeting with Deputy Minister of Justice Suren Krmoyan, Head of the Probation Service by the Ministry of Justice Arsen Navasardyan, Head of the RA Anti-Corruption and Penitentiary Policy Development Department Karen Hakobyan.
The “Support to Probation” National Network was created and is strengthened in the scope of a sub-grant allocated by the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” (CCD) project funded by the European Union.
At the same time, the “Support to Probation” National Network is implementing the “Step towards Just Armenia” sub-grant project funded by CCD.
The monitoring process of the Network of the Probation Service, were discussed in the meeting, issues related to the process of conditional early release, as well as other practical questions regarding cooperation between the Network and the Ministry of Justice.
In particular, Chairman of the Network’s Governing Board Artak Kirakosyan indicated once again the importance of having a direct relationship with beneficiaries and servants of the probation service. The Probation Service as a community institution needs the support of the civil society. The monitoring results will make possible cooperation grounds, gaps and prospects visible.
Deputy Minister Krmoyan welcomed the idea of carrying out monitoring, at the same time attaching importance to the protection of probation beneficiaries’ personal data.
The deputy minister called upon the Network to cooperate in the area of improving the mechanisms of early conditional release.
Concrete agreements aimed at future joint actions were reached.
