On 20 May, a discussion on “The Application of Energy Cooperatives in Armenia” was held within the framework of the “CSOs for Sustainable and Transparent Energy Development” project implemented in the scope of the EU-funded “Commitment Constructive Dialogue” project.
The meeting-discussion in Chatham House format was organized by the “International Center for Human Development”.
Ms Astghine Pasoyan, the Project Manager presented the topic “Renewable Energy Production for Community Needs as a Guarantee for Sustainable Community”.
Mr. Sevak Babayan, Deputy Head of Financial Analysis Department of Public Services Regulatory Commission made a speech. He presented the works carried out by the interdepartmental commission on the settlement of virtual flows.
Astghine Pasoyan responded to the opinions on the consumer cooperatives, the advantages of the micro- networks and the expected savings of the community in case of their existence.
There were also discussions on various opportunities for the use of solar panels, successful cases, tax issues related to the activities of energy cooperatives, exclusion of use of ecological areas (eg, exclusion of pastures), etc.
