On 27 June, during the organised press conferences the representatives of “Budget Accessible for Everyone” project in Kapan presented the project objectives and the implemented activities.
Mr. Gagik Hovhannisyan, the “Budget for Everyone” Project Manager, noted that the project included two stages: monitoring and advocacy and summarizes the results of the monitoring for the first quarter.
According to the Project Manager, the monitoring was conducted in 15 schools in Kapan, Kajaran and Meghri communities, as well as between Kapan and Meghri communities. It was also mentioned that the main objective of the program was to ensure the transparency and accountability of budgets formation and spending processes in secondary education institutions.
Ms Lilit Babayan, member of “Kapan Teachers” NGO, said that a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Syunik regional administration and the “Kapan Teachers” NGO at the end of the “Budget Accessible for Everyone” project, according to which the Syunik Regional Municipality, agrees with the project results of the annual budget planning, accountability and transparency processes implemented and the introduction of a new procedure for the implementation of the SGPs within the framework of the Program, agrees to implement the design, approval and reporting of secondary school budgets drafting actions to improve processes that provide for in the proposal package “Drafting of public school budgets, approval and accountability problems until solutions”.
Mr. Vaché Baghdasaryan, Lawyer of the Kapan Office of the Syunik Regional Branch of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, presented the EU funded “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” project, implemented by the consortium of CSOs under the leadership of the Armenian Lawyers Association,
He expressed his gratitude to the “Kapan Teachers” NGO and the Syunik Regional Administration for the “Budget Accessible for Everyone” sub-grant project activities and achievements in the framework of the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” project, as well as for effective and constructive dialogue.
