The enlarged sitting of the board of the “Return to Kashatagh” Non-Governmental Organization took place on 6 July, to which the President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association Karen Zadoyan was also invited.
During the sitting, current issues of the status of the residents of Berdzor, Sus, Aghavno communities, provision of apartments in Armenia to the displaced persons from Kashatagh administrative district of the Artsakh Republic, repayment of Kashatagh residents’ loans and other current issues were discussed.
During the session, Karen Zadoyan made a speech, proposing the people of Kashatagh to come forward with a united front to protect their violated rights, using all legal mechanisms, from peaceful protests to judicial protection of their rights.
During the sitting of the board of “Return to Kashatagh” NGO, it was decided to joint efforts of the heads of “Return to Kashatagh” NGO, “Kumayri” Non-Governmental Organizations of Artsakh Armenians and the communities of Kashatagh administrative district of the Artsakh Republic, organize on 9 July at 11 o’clock a protest action in front of the RA Government building demanding the solution of housing problems in the Republic of Armenia of the displaced persons from the Kashatagh administrative district of the Artsakh Republic. During the rally the organizers are going to submit the following demand/letter to the RA Prime Minister on behalf of the participants.
“To the Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan,
Dear Mr. Pashinyan,
According to the trilateral statement signed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, the President of the Russian Federation and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the night of 10 November, 2020, about 3,000 (three thousand) families were displaced from the Kashatagh administrative district of the Artsakh Republic and settled in different regions of the Republic of Armenia, finding themselves in a difficult situation.
It should be noted that the resettlement of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia in the Kashatagh administrative district of the Artsakh Republic was previously carried out on the basis of a decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, and the Government of the Republic of Armenia, by virtue of the signing of the above-mentioned statement, is responsible for the lost real estate of the displaced Kashatagh residents, including residential real estate.
Having no main place of residence, at present, the displaced families from Kashatagh administrative district of the Artsakh Republic live in abandoned places of public importance, on rent, in relatives’ houses, deprived of the necessary living conditions and means.
It has been about six months since the working group on Artsakh Reconstruction headed by RA Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan has been functioning in the RA Government. During the sittings of the working group, they also discussed the solutions of the housing problem of the displaced persons from the Kashatagh administrative district of the Artsakh Republic, but so far the RA Government has not given any substantive solution to the housing problem of the people of Kashatagh.
Please, by 15 Julay, 2020, solve the housing problems of the persons displaced from the Kashatagh administrative district of the Artsakh Republic to the Republic of Armenia by the decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, considering also the possibility of monetary compensation for their lost real estate.
We would also like to inform you that from now on, the displaced persons from Kashatagh administrative district of the Artsakh Republic will continue to protect their violated rights by all possible legal means.
