Until February 4 of the next year, NGOs can review their statutes, harmonize them with the new law and register them free of charge in the State Register of Legal Entities. Miss Syuzanna Soghomonyan, Lawyer, Coordinator of CSO-Government Dialogue of “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project informed the NGO representatives today at the training on the new law.
“A large number of statutes have been revised with advice and assistance of our lawyers and submitted for registration. Many of them have already been re-registered, the other part is in re-registration stage,” Syuzanna Soghomonyan said in reply to the question of the NGO representatives, whether assistance is being provided in this issue.
Trainings and free legal advice for NGO representatives in Yerevan city, as well as in Shirak, Syunik, Lori and Gegharkunik marzes are organized in the framework of “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project which is implemented with the financial support of the European Union by the “Armenian Lawyers’ Association” NGO in cooperation with its partners; Agora Central Europe o.p.s (an NGO from the Czech Republic), Armenian Center for Democratic Education-CIVITAS, “International Center for Human Development” Public Organization, SME Cooperation Association and Union of Communities of Armenia.
Today, the rules of the game, the problems encountered in the new law and ways to avoid them were introduced to more than 10 NGO representatives. For example, there are risks related with the involvement of direct entrepreneurial activities. The NGO representatives were informed that income from direct entrepreneurial activities should be directed to implementation of the NGO’s statutory objectives and are not subject to distribution among the members and managerial staff.
n this case, it is problematic how the NGOs will be taxed, what types of income shall be taxable and so on.
The participants emphasized the importance of organization of such trainings, noting that it is effective for their further activities in the legal field, without any obstacles.
At the end of the training a number of NGO representatives registered for legal advice.
