On 29 May, a conference “Education as a Guarantor of Democracy and Formation of the Citizen” was held in Gavar within the framework of “Edu-Logic” Equal Start” sub grant project by the “Open Boarders” NGO in the scope of the EU funded “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” project implemented by ALA.

Directors, teachers and pupils of 25 schools of Gegharkunik marz attended the event.

He welcomed the participants of the conference on behalf of Gegharkunik Governor wishing fruitful work and success in terms of investment of each participant, constructive dialogue and cooperation.

Ms Eleonora Begoyan, Peoject Manager, President of “Open Borders” NGO held a welcoming speech, noting that the project has the “equal start” notion in its title as there is inequality in the field. “During the implementation of the project, it seemed to us that we simply are studying a textbook (the textbook on the subject Social Science), we will reveal the problems in that framework, but the results were that we simply opened the “Pandora’s Box” where there are many in-depth problems and in order not to be afraid we should have to start from one point. Since decision-makers want to develop a new policy, make changes in the program and avoid repetition of the mistakes of the past, it is important that the representatives of education, civil society organizations be very active, raise issues, so that their voice will be heard

Mr. Marat Atovmyan, Mentors Group Coordinator of the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project, Mentor of Justice and Related Sectors, presented the CCD project, its mission and mission. “The state or community can have very good initiatives, good and progressive ideas, but if there is no public support, it will be very difficult for both the local self-governing bodies and the state governing bodies to implement and make it reality. And vice versa, civil society organizations can have very noble ideas and suggestions, but if decision makers do not have the will to realize them, they remain unaccomplished, whatever you will do,” he said. Marat Atovmyan also mentioned that the state will benefit from the cooperation of both sides.
