On 28 June, the final event of the “Disability and RA Legislation” sub-grant project was held within the framework of the EU-funded “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” (CCD) Project.
The project is implemented by “Agate” Rights Defence Center for Women with Disabilities” NGO. This project was aimed to promote elimination of discrimination against persons with disabilities and to prevent violence.e.
Mr. Karen Zadoyan, CCD Manager, President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, welcomed the participants and introduced the CCD project. “It is very important to make changes and amendments in the law, in the public policy. Let’s hope that our partners in the Government, as well as the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, will take these proposals seriously and it will be possible to realise them in the framework of the constructive dialogue,” he said.
Ms Roza Avagyan, “Disability and RA Legislation” Project Manager, delivered and an opening speech as well. Shee presented the program, its purpose and sequence of actions, the main problems of domestic violence against women with disabilities and the results of the implemented survey. “Your presence emphasizes the importance of our project and the work carried out,” she said.
Notably, the research-report “Domestic Violence against Persons with Disabilities: Inclusiveness and Accessibility of the Provided Services” was published within the framework of the project. It was compiled based on the conducted survey among 253 persons with disabilities; monitoring=evaluation of 7 support centers operating in the RA and requests sent to the state bodies. Aimed to ensure the quality and affordable services and inclusion of persons with disabilities who have been subjected to violence and to the improvement of the RA Law ” On the Prevention of Domestic Violence, the Protection of the Victims of Domestic Violence and restoring Solidarity of the Family,” recommendations have been developed and submitted to the state bodies, support centers, NGOs and Mass Media in the field of human rights protection.
